Aqueelah Chloe Adendorf wrote the hardest words of her life: “Rest in peace, my love”. She dedicated them to Jayden Adams, her partner and the father of her 5-year-old daughter.

Jayden was found dead on July 11 at a home in Cape Town. Just weeks earlier, Jayden had worn South Africa’s jersey at the 2026 World Cup.

“A part of my heart went with you, and I will carry your love with me forever. Until we meet again, I will miss you every day. Rest peacefully, my angel. I love you forever”, were some of her words.

The Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder was 25 years old and had an entire career ahead of him. Two weeks before his death, he had already buried his 72-year-old grandmother Marianna.

Western Cape police are investigating the circumstances of his death, which still has no confirmed cause. Meanwhile, South African football observes a minute of silence and his daughter grows up with the promise of a father who loved her until the end.
