Marty and Jess Ansen, an Australian couple, began stringing cruises together after retiring and ended up practically turning them into their new way of life.
Instead of paying for a nursing home, they say traveling this way is more convenient because the price already includes accommodation, food, cleaning, entertainment, and care for much of the day.
Over time, they stopped thinking of cruises as vacations and started living them as a routine: they have breakfast aboard, visit different destinations, and return to the ship to continue their journey.
The couple even said that they know some crew members so well that they feel part of a community.
