Cameron Diaz had an awkward moment at the 1995 MTV Movie Awards while presenting an award alongside Chris Isaak. As they were talking, he started getting too close and tried to kiss her several times, even though she was clearly trying to dodge him and looked very uncomfortable.
The scene happened in front of everyone, somewhat disguised as a “joke”, but it was obvious that Cameron was not having a good time. And although it did not go any further at that moment, someone definitely took note of what had happened.
Later, Jim Carrey went onstage to accept an award and decided not to let it slide. Instead of saying anything directly, he did what he does best: he grabbed Chris Isaak and kissed him in front of everyone, giving him exactly the same treatment in return.
Chris had no choice but to accept Jim’s kiss and play along with the joke, fully aware that he had gone too far with Cameron and that Carrey was willing to do whatever it took to defend her.
In his own style, of course.
