Nick Reiner, 32, who is facing trial for the murder of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is demanding access to an inheritance that they themselves left in his name.

Reiner is claiming $750,000 from a $1.5 million trust created by his parents. He says the money is necessary to cover the costs of his legal defense while he faces two counts of first-degree murder.

The trustee has refused to release the funds. Meanwhile, his lawyers argue that each day of delay affects his ability to prepare the case. For many, it is hard to ignore the paradox. A man accused of killing his parents is fighting in court to obtain the money they left him.
