Robert wasn’t even 3 years old when he lost his dad, but he grew up surrounded by the animals and the work to which Steve Irwin had devoted his entire life. Years later, a photograph showed just how much of that legacy was still present 🥹

In 2019, when he was 15, Robert shared a photo of himself feeding Murray, one of the crocodiles at Australia Zoo in Queensland. The scene felt especially familiar because Steve had been photographed doing exactly the same thing 15 years earlier.

It wasn’t just the same enclosure and the same crocodile. Robert was wearing the distinctive khaki uniform, holding food up in front of Murray in practically the same position as his father.

“Dad and me feeding Murray… same place, same crocodile, two photos 15 years apart”, he wrote when he posted both images together.

Steve died in 2006, but Robert grew up following in his footsteps alongside his mom, Terri, and his sister, Bindi.

In fact, he once said that it’s while working with the animals his father loved that he feels closest to him ❤️
