The first was Miguel Ángel King, 51, on July 20, 2021. Authorities believe Prowell shot him and stole his car. The vehicle turned up a few days later near the suspect’s home, with forensic evidence linking it to him. King’s remains were not found until nearly a month later, in August 2021, in the Angeles National Forest.

The second was Robert Gutiérrez, 53, who disappeared in 2023. His body has not been found, but investigators found his car in Prowell’s garage. A third man, 40, contacted Prowell in February 2025 and, according to prosecutors, was tied up and beaten with a baseball bat before managing to escape. According to supplementary material in the case, Prowell allegedly used a mask so realistic that it made him look like another person. That detail could not be confirmed in the verified sources. What is documented is that he was on parole for a series of robberies committed between 2019 and 2021 and remains in custody without bail. He has not entered a guilty or not guilty plea.
