Roger Federer had been in Forbes’ billionaire club for barely a year. It did not last long.
It all happened on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, without him setting foot on a court. On Holding, the Swiss sneaker brand in which he owns around 2.5% of the shares, reported results below analysts’ expectations and its shares plunged nearly 19%. For Federer, that meant losing about 52 million dollars in a matter of hours, leaving his estimated fortune at 952 million, just below the threshold that makes someone a billionaire.
The Swiss player retired from tennis in 2022 with 20 Grand Slam titles and about 131 million dollars in prize money, but it was his business bet that took him into the billionaires’ club — and the same bet that, for now, pushed him out of it. In addition to On, he has contracts with Rolex, Lindt, Uniqlo and Mercedes-Benz, so the blow, though hard, does not leave him anywhere near ruin.
