Ronaldo apologized to all the parents in the world for the hairstyle their kids copied from him in 2002

24 years of silence and the apology has finally arrived. Ronaldo Nazário, the man who won the 2002 World Cup by scoring 8 goals —2 in the final against Germany in Yokohama—, has just publicly apologized to all the parents on the planet for the haircut he sported in that tournament. Yes, that one: almost shaved head, fringe at the front, zero logical explanation.

In an interview with the French newspaper L’Equipe published on June 28, 2026, El Fenómeno confessed everything with humor: the haircut was a calculated move to get the press to stop talking about his knee injury before the semifinal against Turkey. Plan A: do something so weird to his head that no one could think about anything else. Plan executed to perfection. The problem was that thousands of children all over the world saw their idol and said the same thing: “I want that hair too.” And their parents had no choice. 😅

If you grew up in the 2000s and someone in your family came home with that half-moon fringe, now you know who to blame. Ronaldo knows it, admits it and —24 years late— regrets it. Although something says the affected families still haven’t completely forgiven him.
