Ryan Gosling and Guillermo del Toro had other plans for the Oscars. On February 22, 2015, while Hollywood was getting ready for the ceremony, the actor and director went to Disneyland wearing baseball caps and sweatshirts to blend in with the park’s visitors.
Fans spotted them on Radiator Springs Racers, the ride at Disney California Adventure. Gosling was behind the wheel and del Toro was in the passenger seat: an unusual pair for a ride in a Cars vehicle, and quite different from the red carpet.
The day turned out to be much longer than a simple visit might suggest: they spent around 11 and a half hours at Disneyland, checking out different rides, eating, and browsing the shops. Gosling wasn’t nominated or involved in that year’s ceremony, so instead of attending the star-studded event, he took advantage of Sunday to enjoy the park with del Toro and, while he was at it, buy a few gifts for his daughter Esmeralda.
