Ryan Gosling spent years getting into the skin of disturbing characters. ‘Drive’ and ‘Only God Forgives’ took him to psychological corners that few actors dare to explore twice.

But something changed. Today, with Eva Mendes and his two daughters, Esmeralda Amada and Amada Lee, Gosling chooses differently. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, he admitted: “I no longer want to take roles that lead me to dark places. I’m very aware of how this affects things at home”.

According to him, everything started to change with ‘La La Land’, when he realized that the piano and the songs from the shoot could also be a family game at home.

Then came ‘Barbie’, and with it a curious coincidence: his daughters were already playing at filming homemade movies with their own Barbies on the iPad. Gosling sums it up as being “in sync” with them.

Behind the actor who played some of the most unsettling characters in cinema is a father who now decides on his career together with Eva, putting his family first.
