Sadie Dane didn’t want her second date to end before it had even begun. At 40, the Kent-based businesswoman and mother of three had met Greg on Tinder in April 2025. His thick, dark hair, stubble, and tattoos caught her eye. After exchanging several messages and going on a first date she describes as a whirlwind, she traveled nearly two hours to Brighton, to Greg’s mother’s house, where he was living at the time.

There, in bed, a persistent pain began in her upper back. Sadie says she decided to put up with it: it was only their second date, and she didn’t want to scare him. She let him fall asleep, but the pain became excruciating and, within hours, she was completely paralyzed.

That was when she woke him and told him she was dying. According to the account she gave to Need To Know, Greg’s reaction saved her life. He stayed by her side throughout her illness and tried to cheer her up despite having little free time. To her, that gesture said it all: without planning it, she had found the man of her life. Would you have been able to keep quiet about pain like that for fear of scaring someone off?
