Sadio Mané was only 7 years old when he saw his father die in Bambali, a Senegalese village without electricity or a single medical center nearby. There was no ambulance that arrived in time, no doctor who could save him. Only the distance, and the helplessness of having nowhere to go.
Years later, having become one of the great stars of world football, Mané returned to the same place. But not to visit: he came back to build.
He invested part of his fortune in building a hospital in Bambali, capable of serving dozens of neighboring villages that until then also had nowhere to get treatment.
He also financed a school, internet connectivity, and monthly assistance for the families in his village.
He himself has said it: he prefers to help his people rather than accumulate luxuries. That is why, where no doctor once arrived in time, today there is a hospital with his name behind it. 🇸🇳🥹
