Sam Neill never wanted to be an action hero. And yet, he ended up running across half an island in Jurassic Park, the film that turned him into a cinema legend.

In various interviews, the New Zealand actor confessed that he was “tired of having to run” to escape the dinosaurs in front of Steven Spielberg’s cameras. His Dr. Alan Grant, he said, was not supposed to be a guy who runs away at full speed, but someone who observes, thinks, and stays calm.

In fact, he even joked that he would rather see his character retired and working in accounting than running from a raptor. An actor who hated action, starring in one of Hollywood’s most physically demanding franchises. 🦕
