80-year-old Dolly Parton recorded a video to express her gratitude for something huge: 2 million dollars donated to her Imagination Library foundation.
The gift came from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, both 36 years old, on the same July 3 when their wedding at New York’s Madison Square Garden was reported. Grateful and playful, Parton jokingly asked them to give her their first child when the baby was born. Up to that point, everything seemed sweet.
But as she spoke, her hands moved in a way that many viewers described as unsettling, almost ritualistic, and that people on social media began labeling as “demonic gestures”.
The hand symbol known as the “devil horns” is called the mano cornuta or maloik, and consists of raising the index and little fingers while the thumb holds down the middle and ring fingers.
No reputable outlet confirmed that interpretation or reported any real controversy, but the video was already circulating under that shadow.
Between the affection of a country legend and the macabre reading of a casual gesture, the camera captured an image that many people could not get out of their heads.
