It all happened in 1996 when a garage in Brooklyn caught fire. As firefighters fought the flames, they saw something incredible: a cat running in and out of the fire five times.
It was Scarlett, who didn’t stop until she had pulled all her kittens out, suffering severe burns to her paws, ears, and eyes in the process. Nearly blinded by the smoke, the first thing she did once they were safe was touch them with her nose to confirm they were still alive before falling unconscious.
Although one of the little ones didn’t make it, Scarlett recovered and lived 13 years surrounded by love with a family that adopted her after receiving thousands of letters from all over the world. 🥹❤️
