Selena Gomez built part of her brand by speaking openly about her bipolar disorder and mental health. 🎤

Now that same image is at the center of a federal lawsuit. Five investors say they put 1.2 million dollars into Wondermind, the startup she founded with her mother Mandy Teefey and her friend Daniella Pierson in 2021, convinced that Selena’s fame would drive the app and the promised partnerships. According to them, none of that materialized, and they only learned of the problem after reading an article months later.

Attorney Jeffrey Neiman was direct with TMZ: “mental health is not a marketing strategy”, he said, adding that Selena “wasn’t simply associated with the sales pitch… she was the sales pitch”. 😳 Both Gomez and Pierson have already come out to deny everything, calling the allegations baseless. The case is now in the hands of a Delaware court.
