Sergio Furnari, an Italian sculptor based in New York, sold his house and put nearly $100,000 of his own money into building a life-size statue of Charlie Kirk. He envisioned it holding a microphone, wearing a T-shirt that says ‘FREEDOM,’ freezing the moment before his death at Utah Valley University in September 2025.
He compared himself to Michelangelo sculpting David. He expected wealthy collectors to fight over it and for the asking price, set at $150,000, to be paid without issue. Instead, his fundraising campaign barely raised $7,660, and rather than buyers, he received messages from people promising to urinate on the work.
Even so, he is not giving up: he plans to install it in Times Square on September 10, right on the anniversary of Kirk’s death. Meanwhile, the statue remains in his New York studio, where he also broke his foot after tripping over a roll of tape while working on it. Would you buy it?
