According to StoryLearning, the Barranquilla native masters as many as seven languages: Spanish, English, Portuguese, Italian, French, Arabic, and Catalan. She wasn’t born speaking all of them; she added them over time through tours, hard work, and the musical ear that has characterized her since childhood in Colombia.
But there is one chapter that circulates among her fans: during a visit to Japan to promote “Whenever, Wherever”, she allegedly had to rely on a translator, something almost unheard of in her career. That language, they say, was still missing from her list. 🇯🇵
