In June 2020, 26-year-old Shane Goldsby killed 70-year-old Robert Munger, his cellmate at a prison in the state of Washington.
Goldsby believed Munger was the man who had raped his younger sister. Munger had been sentenced to 43 years for offenses against minors and possession of child pornography; both men were incarcerated at the same facility when the homicide occurred.
For killing his cellmate, Goldsby received an additional 25 years in prison. Thus, the crime committed inside the prison resulted in another sentence for Goldsby: 25 more years behind bars.
