💤 Shaquille O’Neal, one of the biggest and most dominant men sports has ever produced, was afraid to admit that something in his body was not working properly. In 2011, while taking part in a sleep medicine study at Harvard University, doctors diagnosed him with moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea. His reaction: to ignore the diagnosis completely. “I felt superhuman”, explained the 54-year-old former player.

But the body always collects the debt. 😓 His snoring became impossible to ignore, daytime fatigue crushed him, and concentrating became a real effort. It was only when the symptoms got worse that O’Neal sought help. His doctor recommended Zepbound, a GLP-1 drug from Eli Lilly approved to treat OSA, which he combined with walking, cardio, and better eating. The change was so significant that in June 2026 he became an official ambassador for the company’s national campaign.

🎙️ “I decided to share my experience because it is a serious condition”, said Shaq. And he is right: moderate-to-severe apnea affects about 24 million adults in the United States, and the vast majority never receive a diagnosis. If even the most imposing man in basketball took 15 years to take it seriously, imagine how many more are in the same situation without knowing it. 🏀
