Shaye Scott, 39, grew up in Utah in a Mormon family, and from the age of 3 felt that something about her identity did not fit. Over time, she married Amanda, they started a family, and had three children: Emmeline, Hudson, and Desmond. But in 2019, during a vacation in Laguna Beach, Shaye decided to tell her wife the truth she had kept for years: she was a trans woman.

What could have marked a breakup ended up becoming the beginning of a new chapter for both of them. Shaye began her transition with hormone therapy, the couple left the Mormon Church, and decided to speak with their children with complete honesty, without hiding the process they were going through as a family.
Years later, their story moved people again on social media: Shaye and Amanda renewed their vows for their 20th anniversary in an intimate ceremony in Utah, accompanied by their three children.
