Morgan Bauer was only 19 when she disappeared in February 2016, shortly after moving to Georgia, United States, to work as an exotic dancer. There, she met Katelyn Goble, another young woman who worked in the same industry and offered her a place to stay.
But that friendship ended up becoming a deadly trap.
According to prosecutors, Goble and her boyfriend, Jonathan “Alex” Warren, strangled Morgan inside a home. They then dismembered her body and burned the remains to conceal the crime.
At trial, even more horrifying details emerged: Warren testified that they had both consumed part of the corpse. He also admitted to committing acts of necrophilia.
Investigators said the couple was obsessed with serial killers and believed no one would look for Morgan.
Her disappearance remained unsolved for seven years, until a confession led authorities to her remains in 2023.
In September 2026, Goble was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, as was Warren, who had pleaded guilty in 2024.
“She was our daughter for 19 years”, her stepmother recalled, lamenting that Morgan’s life had been reduced to the terrible details of the crime.
