Mama B got dressed, decorated the hall, and arranged the chairs one by one for her baby shower.
Her mother helped her organize everything and prepared plenty of food. But the day came, and no one showed up. Neither family nor friends. Rows of chairs sat empty, and the video shows her breaking down, wiping away her tears, and sitting silently in one of them. Her husband, wearing a matching blue shirt, came over to comfort her.
“Do you know what I wanted more than anything at my baby shower? For people to show up for me the way I show up for them. I didn’t want gifts, I wanted people to be there”, she said. More than the party itself, it hurt to feel invisible to the people who had always had her support.
The food went untouched. But when she uploaded the video to TikTok, the reaction from people who had never even seen her was different: they messaged her to ask for her Amazon wish list, and gifts for her son started arriving from different places. “I’m in shock at all this love from strangers”, she later said.
