The iconic 2000s band returned to the stage with its original singer Amaia Montero, who had spent 19 years away. However, her comeback has not been as expected.
Since they began their tour in Spain, videos of her on stage with an off-key voice have gone viral. She has received mostly negative criticism on social media, which has the singer feeling bad.
Journalist Alex Álvarez of El Tiempo Justo says Montero is “devastated” by her first performances, where she has not managed to recover the songs people remember.
“What began as an illusion has turned into the complete opposite”, the journalist commented.
Montero and La Oreja de Van Gogh have tours scheduled throughout Spain until the end of 2026, though it is unknown whether they will remain standing after the controversy.
