Paz Quiroz, a young woman from Rosario, Argentina, shared on social media the shocking consequences that, according to her account, began after a subdermal contraceptive implant was removed from her arm.
The procedure was supposed to be relatively simple. However, Paz says that the wound left by the implant, instead of healing, began to open more and more until it developed necrotic tissue.
For approximately one month, the young woman visited five doctors without managing to solve the problem. Meanwhile, the lesion continued to progress, and the appearance of her arm became increasingly concerning.
She is now facing surgery to make a hole in her arm and drain the damaged tissue, with a kind of burn that should heal in approximately a month.
But if the lesion continues to progress, the young woman could lose her entire arm.
This is not the only documented case involving the insertion or removal of a subdermal contraceptive implant. Although experts say that it is a minimally invasive and simple procedure, the question that no one has yet answered is: who is responsible when something so simple ends up like this?
