A young Mexican woman, known on social media as “lobita_xx94”, crossed half the continent to meet Vic, her Venezuelan boyfriend, in person, whom she had only spoken to from afar.

On June 24, they finally saw each other: he waited for her at the airport with flowers and gifts, bringing months of messages to a close with a real hug.
Five hours later, the ground shook with the double earthquake that left more than 3,000 dead in Venezuela. Vic did not survive. She was rescued alive from the rubble of a story that had barely begun.

“Life gave us 5 hours together”, she wrote afterward, and that phrase sums it all up: the love that did have time to exist, even if only briefly.

Her testimony remained as a reminder that sometimes time is not measured in years, but in what we are capable of feeling in the exact moment we are meant to live.
