Pamela Yajaira Alvarado, 25, accepted an invitation from a man she had met on social media. A stranger, a party at an estate in Juárez, Nuevo León, and the promise of a normal night. None of that happened.
In the early hours of July 11, she was found in a vacant lot in the Lomas del Sol neighborhood with burns on 90% of her body. She had been doused with gasoline and set on fire. She made it to the hospital alive, and she was also able to speak: she told authorities what had happened before she died.
That statement was the key piece. Two days later, on July 12, Óscar ‘N’ was arrested while fleeing on a motorcycle. The Nuevo León Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the case as a femicide. Pamela is no longer here to tell it, but her voice, the last one she had, was enough to begin seeking justice.
