Anna Dang has only 2 percent vision in one eye, cannot see out of the other, and is still moving toward a historic goal. Her aim is to become Australia’s first blind doctor, a path that already seemed unlikely from the beginning of her life.

Her story includes enormous obstacles. She did not have an ATAR score (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) and, according to her own account, when she was born she was given just a 1 percent chance of surviving. Despite that, she found a way to continue studying, adapt to university spaces, and defend her place in a demanding career.

In that process, her guide dog Kylie has been key. Thanks to her, she can get around more safely, attend classes, and tackle routes that would be much more difficult alone. Her story is moving because it is not only about vision, but also about independence, support, and purpose 🦮
