Kari hung up the phone and already knew what she had to do.

Her daughter Quinn Duane, in California, had just told her that the wedding was not going to happen, days before the date. Instead of canceling everything and quietly mourning the loss, Kari took the logistics into her own hands. She donated the flowers to a foster home and decided that the reception dinner, which had cost more than 23.000 dollars, would not end up in the trash.

Around 90 homeless people from Sacramento arrived at Hotel Citizen to sit at a table no one expected would be for them. They welcomed each guest personally. The first to arrive was a woman from a local shelter, and they thought that if she were the only one to arrive that night, it would already have been worth it. The place ended up full. 🥺❤️
