James Blunt saw his name circulating online linked to something he had never disclosed.
It all began when Hayden Panettiere recounted in her memoir, published in May, that at 18, a friend took her to the cabin of a British singer-songwriter in his thirties who was waiting naked on the bed. She said she refused and left immediately. She never gave a name, but internet users connected the dots to photos from 2009 in Cannes, where Blunt and Panettiere appeared together and flirtatious after the amfAR event.
On Monday, Blunt shared an article by journalist Dean Piper, who covered that encounter in 2009 and is now making the case in his defense. In those photos, Panettiere was already 19, almost 20, not 18 as in the account. The controversy comes weeks after Panettiere’s death, on August 16, at the age of 36. 👀
