In November 2019, doctors at Wuxi People’s Hospital in Jiangsu, China, showed the lungs of a 52-year-old donor who had smoked for nearly 30 years. The organs appeared completely blackened and showed several lung diseases.
The team led by surgeon Chen Jingyu evaluated the lungs for a possible transplant, but ultimately ruled them out because of their condition. The specialist explained that they had damage incompatible with donation.
The video went viral and surpassed 25 million views, while the doctor himself shared it as a warning about the effects of smoking. 🚬🫁
