Nzuri is a male lion that lives in the Masai Mara Reserve, in Kenya, and is part of a group of seven males called Topi Pride. The son of Olepolos, he inherited genetics that, combined with the humidity of the savanna and the way his mane dries after the rain, gave him a wavy, exuberant head of hair that is almost never seen in wild lions. Wildlife photographer @silent_whispers.photography captured the moment in such detail that the curls look like they came straight out of a beauty salon.
The comments on social media came quickly: “The curly method got out of hand”, someone wrote. Another added: “The lion asked to have his picture taken as if he were looking at the horizon, but with his curls showing as if they were natural”. And yes, Nzuri posed exactly like that. With that kingly gaze of someone who knows perfectly well how handsome he is. 👑
