How far does the debt of having been raised extend?
In some countries, the law already has an answer. If an elderly parent cannot support themselves and has no pension, their children may be required to pay them a support allowance, even if there was abandonment or abuse in the past.
For some, it is simply justice. Parents sacrificed for decades for their children and deserve that support when they can no longer fend for themselves. For others, it is a trap. Being raised should not become a lifelong emotional and financial mortgage, especially when one of the parents was never present.
