For many Indigenous peoples of North America, long hair on men is not an aesthetic choice: it is identity, honor, and a spiritual connection to their ancestors. Cutting it, or forbidding it, is for many Native communities an act of cultural erasure. 🪶

However, there are those who argue that school regulations apply equally to everyone, regardless of background. “The rules exist to maintain order and must be respected”, they argue. On the other side, thousands respond: “Since when should a sacred tradition centuries old give way to a code of conduct?”

Do you think schools should make exceptions when long hair has a proven cultural and spiritual significance? 👇
