There was no infidelity, nor any major fights or scandal that ended their marriage. Adele said that her separation from Simon Konecki had a much simpler and perhaps more difficult reason to accept: a moment simply came when she was no longer in love.
The singer explained that she felt she was living on autopilot, “going with the flow”, and that she was no longer happy in the relationship. She did not consider herself completely miserable, but she knew she could end up that way if she continued ignoring what she felt.

Making the decision was not easy either. Adele acknowledged that the failure of her marriage devastated her and even caused her shame, because she had always wanted to build a stable family. Even so, she understood that staying together solely because of everything they had built was not enough either.
And despite the divorce, she never turned Simon into the villain of the story. Adele has insisted that neither of them did anything wrong and has continued speaking about him fondly. She simply accepted a truth that is sometimes much harder than finding someone to blame: you can love someone deeply and still realize that you no longer want to remain their partner.
