Milly got lost near home.

The 17-year-old dog, who was blind, deaf, and had a heart condition, left her family’s fenced yard on Monday in Ashmont Hill, Dorchester, Boston. Sarah Groh and her husband, Brian Stockless, searched the neighborhood with their neighbors. Groh had rescued Milly 15 years earlier.

Nearly four hours later, a group spotted her near The Mix, on Talbot Avenue. A passerby asked the firefighters from Engine 18, across the street, for help. Six firefighters managed to lure her with a plate of steak. When Sarah and Brian arrived, Milly was happy and safe: an entire neighborhood had managed to bring her back.
