Monday, December 9, 2025, in Cocoa, Florida, when the sky opened over I-95.

A Beechcraft 55 small plane had lost power in both engines after taking off from Merritt Island. The 27-year-old pilot attempted the only thing he could do: an emergency landing on the highway. But below, in the southbound lanes, a 57-year-old woman was driving her Toyota Camry, unaware of what was coming. The plane fell directly onto her car, bounced amid sparks, and slid until it crashed into the concrete barrier. Everything was captured by Jim and Peter Coffey, a father and son who were driving right behind them with the dashcam on.

What followed was almost as incredible as the impact: the driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to Viera Hospital, while the pilot and his passenger emerged completely unharmed. Pastors Bernard and Annie Wigley, from a nearby church, crossed the traffic to help her before the paramedics arrived. The FAA and the Highway Patrol are investigating how an ordinary afternoon on the highway ended with a plane on top of a car and no one dead.
