Kalygul Vaskeev turned 22 just a week ago. 🎂✨ His birthday celebration once again drew attention on social media, but this time not only because of his story, but because the images show how much he has changed after several months of treatment.
Since childhood, he has lived with a huge nevus that covered much of one of his eyes and, according to the clinic treating him, prevented him from opening it normally for nearly 10 years and significantly affected his vision.
After several stages of treatment, the eye was able to open again and, according to the clinic, Kalygul partially regained his vision: he can currently distinguish small objects, such as a person’s fingers.
The distinctive mark around his eye also led many users to compare him to Zuko, the character from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Although his treatment is still ongoing, the new images from his 22nd birthday show remarkable progress and moved those who have followed his story.
