Jamey was born with spinal muscular atrophy. From childhood, he knew that his body would not function like everyone else’s, and that a wheelchair would be part of his life forever.
Growing up going to church was not enough for him. He felt an emptiness that no service could fill, because he had never had a personal encounter with Jesus, only the routine of accompanying his family. In secondary school, that emptiness pushed him toward pornography, looking for something to ease a pain that even he himself did not fully understand.
Everything changed the day he watched a video about the Bible online. Something shifted inside him, and he began building a different kind of relationship with his faith, to the point that he decided to study theology. Today Jamey repeats a phrase that sums up his story: Jesus did not need to heal his body, but his heart. And he says he would not trade his life for a normal body, because he found something he considers more valuable than walking.
