Illumi Maeda was just 3 years old when she began her journey as a DJ.
She grew up in a home where the music never stopped, so no one was surprised that she wanted to pursue it. What no one expected was what happened next: at 6 years and 99 days old, the young Japanese girl known as DJ ILLU became the world’s youngest club DJ.
For her, music is much more than a game. She believes it has healing power and wants to use her talent to help those around her: “I want to become a DJ who makes music that lifts people’s spirits, comforts them, and helps them through difficult times, wherever they are in the world”.
What she enjoys most is seeing everyone move, dance, and have a good time. She says everyone should feel free to express themselves, and she loves it when sounds blend beautifully.
Her plans are already mapped out: perform at festivals in different countries and, on top of that, open an ice cream shop where she’ll also play music. Can you imagine ordering an ice cream while she mixes live?
