Spencer Barbosa just wanted a photo with her fiancé at the beach.
She handed her cellphone to a stranger, smiled, and when the man returned the camera, he added something no one had asked for: he told her she looked “chubby”. The 23-year-old content creator said on TikTok that at first she thought she had heard “pretty” — and laughed to herself when she realized what he had actually said.
Hours later, she recorded herself again, showed the photo on screen, and replied without hesitation: “I asked you to take a photo of me, not comment on my body, you weirdo”. She said that she is a confident person, but that the same comment could have ruined the day of someone more vulnerable. Alongside Connor, her fiancé and best friend since she was 11, she closed the chapter with a phrase that is now pure pride: “If this is being chubby, girl, that’s sexy”.
