Angelo could barely even stand. This young Great Dane was living on the street, so malnourished that his body drove him to eat stones just to fill the emptiness of hunger. The result was worse than you can imagine: the stones blocked his stomach and kept him from digesting or relieving himself normally.
Hanan, a volunteer with the organization Furever Rescue Foster, found him and could not look the other way. From another country, Justin and Deborah Finning, a couple with more than 30 years of rescuing Great Danes with special needs, joined the cause. Together they organized a campaign to pay for his surgery, physical therapy, hydrotherapy, and a nutrition plan tailored to him.
Months later, Angelo is a different dog. He runs in a huge yard, goes to the beach, and lives with three other dogs in his new home. From eating stones to survive to having a family that chose him: sometimes distance is not an obstacle when there is a will to save a life.
