Nicholas Fosco, known as Lacy, only wanted to show off his first dinner in Japan.
The 23-year-old American Twitch streamer was livestreaming from a restaurant in Tokyo with his partner, influencer Darla Claire. The QR code for placing orders at their table was visible on camera, and the chat didn’t miss the opportunity: according to Lacy himself, viewers scanned it from their screens and started ordering food without anyone noticing.

The surprise came when a waiter approached to ask if he and Darla had ordered 20 drinks. Lacy reacted with confusion and said a line that went viral: “Maybe they saw the QR code. No more orders.”. The first posts mentioned more than 500.000 yen in orders; later, the reported figure rose to about 1,6 million yen, or between 10.900 and 12.000 dollars, depending on the outlet.

Lacy decided to pay the entire bill. He explained that he couldn’t refuse, because doing so would have caused the restaurant major losses, and asked them not to throw the food away, but to give it to anyone who could use it.
