A young man lost his university degree in Indonesia after a video recorded during his graduation ceremony went viral, in which he proudly showed how he used ChatGPT to pass his exams.
The footage began circulating on social media in early May 2026 and quickly sparked debate about the use of artificial intelligence in education. According to local media, the university reviewed the case and decided to withdraw his academic recognition after concluding that he had committed fraud.
Although some users defended the use of technological tools, others criticized the fact that the student even publicly boasted about the cheating, which ended up costing him his degree just after graduating.
