Study reveals that men can be more “gold diggers” than women

A recent study brought the stereotype of “gold diggers” back into debate, by revealing that seeking a relationship for money or status would not be behavior exclusive to women.

The research, led by Lennart Freyth, analyzed 351 people and found that this type of strategy also appears in men, especially when economic motivation outweighs intimacy or the emotional bond.

According to the researchers, these profiles are often associated with traits such as narcissism, recklessness, and psychopathy, which opens a new discussion about how economic interest influences modern relationships.
