Suge Knight tells it from prison, with the same calm one would use to recount any routine errand.
According to his account to TMZ, on the night of September 13, 1996, hours after Tupac Shakur died in Las Vegas, someone put him in contact with an employee of a funeral home. Knight says the man arrived at his house with two bags of cash: one with 200,000 dollars and another with 1 million. The man rejected the first offer. He accepted when Knight showed him both together, 1.2 million dollars to cremate the body that same early morning.
What followed, Knight says, took place in a Las Vegas hotel: Afeni Shakur, the rapper’s mother, reportedly gathered friends and close relatives, who rolled the ashes into several blunts and smoked them as a farewell. Knight swears he did not participate because he was on parole. He had already told a similar version to People magazine in July 2025. No one outside his circle has confirmed it.
