Harry Brown is 21 years old, works at a Sainsbury’s in Surrey, England, and spends a good part of his life connected to the internet. He never imagined that habit would make him the key piece in solving a disappearance case 5,000 miles away.
It all began when Gary and Kim Forester, grandparents of little Yvette Henley, discovered that Brown was Facebook friends with Virgil Henley, the girl’s father. The grandparents had obtained custody on June 20, after a court determined that Yvette was suffering “emotional harm” and was in danger. But Henley disappeared with her, and the police opened a child abduction case.
For two days, Brown spoke with Henley on Facebook and, under the pretext of sending him a pizza, managed to get him to share his exact location, a motel in Kingman, Arizona, including the room number. Instead of the food, the police arrived. Yvette was handed over to her grandparents in California, where she lives today. “I cried so much when I saw the photos of her with her grandparents”, Brown said.
