Today she is one of Hollywood’s most popular actresses, but Sydney Sweeney says that growing up was never easy. The star of Euphoria revealed that during her adolescence she was mocked and excluded for developing breasts before the other girls her age.
“I had breasts before the other girls and I felt ostracized because of it”, the actress recalled, explaining that this stage deeply affected her self-esteem. She also confessed that she used to wear very baggy clothes to try to hide her body and go unnoticed.
The pressure became so great that, when she was a teenager, she was convinced that when she turned 18 she would undergo surgery to reduce the size of her breasts. However, her mother managed to convince her not to do it.
“My mom told me: ‘Don’t do it, you’ll regret it when you’re in college.’ And she was right. Now I love them”, she said with a laugh.
Sweeney also said that, even after becoming an actress, many people continue to reduce her work solely to her physical appearance.
Over the years, she says she has learned to accept her body and not let other people’s opinions define who she is. Her story once again sparked debate about how many teenage girls are judged or sexualized simply for developing earlier than their peers.
