Dolly Parton wasn’t willing to stay silent after hearing something like that.
The story took place during the filming of Rhinestone in New York, on an especially cold night. As the singer recalled, she saw a homeless man shivering and decided to cover him with a shawl she was wearing.
That’s when Sylvester Stallone approached, took the shawl away from the man, and told Dolly not to throw something good “in the trash”. Her reaction was immediate: she reclaimed the garment, covered the man again, and confronted her co-star.
“That could have been you, you ungrateful man”, she replied, reminding him that anyone could have ended up in a different situation if they hadn’t had the same opportunities. She even told him that stranger could have been “an angel” sent to show him how he was behaving.
But the story took a turn the next day. According to Dolly, Stallone returned and bought the man a blanket, apparently proving that the scolding had indeed made him think.
