Rescue Ink was an animal rescue group based in New York, made up of motorcyclists, bodybuilders, former military personnel, and former law enforcement officers. Their appearance was imposing: large bodies, tattoos, black jackets, and a presence that drew attention as soon as they arrived somewhere.
Their work focused on abused or abandoned animals. They investigated reports of cruelty, confronted alleged abusers, worked with shelters, and helped remove dogs, cats, horses, and other animals from dangerous situations. They were also linked to actions against illegal dogfighting.
Television brought them to a wider audience with Rescue Ink Unleashed, where their direct and unconventional style could be seen. On screen, they looked like a tough gang arriving at a house. At the end of each rescue, the image that remained was different: tattooed hands carrying frightened animals.
